A large and very rare lead glazed earthenware roof ridge tile sculpture depicting a civil official riding a celestial horse with flaring nostrils,bulging eyes and flowing mane. This item was made in Shanxi province, northern China, during the Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644). There is a very closely related example on display in the Victoria and Albert Museum in the Architectural section of the new ceramics display on the 5th Floor (No.2) - Museum no. C.13,14 - 1910. (We acquired this item in early 2004 from the same collection as item no. 0342 in our webste).
Condition - there are firing cracks (please see enlargement no.6), chips and some minor very old repairs (additional pictures supplied on request).

明代 精美稀有神官天马屋脊大砖
一件陶制三彩神官天马屋脊砖。作于明代山西省。在伦敦维多利亚与阿伯特博物馆五楼陶瓷馆建筑陶瓷部分,有一件与此非常相似的展品(博物馆陈列号C13,14 - 1910)。我们于2004年初将此件与本店第342号藏品一起购进。
品相:有窑裂(见图6),有口磕,细微处有前人修补(如需要我们可提供更多照片)。高44.5厘米,长37厘米。
