A framed 'rice' or pith paper painting of a Chinese river boat made for export in Guangdong province, South China, for export to the Europe or the United States. The calligraphy on the yellow banner and on the lanterns bears a cyclical dating for 1894 and indicatse that the two figures looking out from the middle of the boat are scholars celebrating their successes at the Imperial examinations.
Condition: some staining but no tears or breaks to the paper.
